JUNE OF 44 ENGINE TAKES TO THE WATER
QUARTERSTICK
Maybe I’m not qualified to talk about this bullshit.

1) Shrugs all around.

2) This is named after June Miller, wife of Henry Miller (who?) The band’s name refers to her and the affair her husband had with Anais Nin, writer. Dude says, “heeey, everybody” in such a taffy way I can’t fuck with it.

3) The singer is ambitious, talking his seafaring shit. This joint features a refrain of
port and bow, stern and starboard
port and bow, stern and starboard
port and bow, stern and starboard
port and bow, stern and starboard

FF.

4) I like this song. “It’s not that easy. Nothing could come that easy” he says and says. The Gutty guitar and all that work for me.

5) “We write songs like letters.” June of 44 remind me of Slint with the spoken word storytelling. And it’s overlong.

6) inhale
exhale
inhale
exhale
inhale and exhale and the smoke comes through your teeth
it resembles the smoke stacks
and incinerators when they stand
where they grow
where they breathe
he breathes on by the highway
enchanted by the car lots
he’ll keep his distance
he’ll do with out
stating that somethings are impossible

7) This one is called “Take it with a grain of salt.” FF.

8) Sink is Busted.
